Our History

Chicago Ambulance Alliance is a fourth-generation family business born from the original Vandeberg family business — Vandenberg Funeral Homes. Arising from their experience in the funeral home business and seeing the need for emergency medical services, the focus shifted to saving lives in the 1960s. The companies were developed out of the need for pre-hospital emergency medical services in the greater Chicagoland area.

Chicago Ambulance Alliance currently owns and operates ATI Vandenberg, Trace Ambulance, and SNT Wheelchair Transporation.

“United for the Call”

Private Provider Emergency Response System (PPERS) was developed to assist fire departments, local health departments, hospitals, and healthcare facilities during large-scale disaster events. The CAA is the founding member of PPERS and coordinates with other private providers to work together in a collaborative and unified manner. All major ambulance providers in the Northern Illinois region are members of this disaster response network. Membership to PPERS is selective to ensure that the best resources are deployed for large scale, disaster events. The CAA dispatch center serves as the communication center for PPERS and coordinates all activities of its members as it receives requests from government agencies and/or healthcare centers.
